RENOVATIONS AT HIGH COUNTRY UNITED CHURCH
High Country United Church is living into our reality and living into the future. As an active community that provides a variety of community programs, we aim to be more financially sustainable so that we can continue offering programs and services at low to no cost. We also want to keep our rental rates low so anyone can afford to have their event at a beautiful location.
Our church is our home. We pray that you feel invited and welcome to request it for your family events or for your community events. We are always looking forward as a community who serves.

We have been blessed with a grant from Presbyteries of Toronto Conference (PTCC) to cover the costs of our heating & cooling, solar panels and generator. This grant also covers the cost of the electrical work. We offer their thanks in helping us to live into the present and future that we are being called into.
Winter 2026 Update: We recently had a professional inspection of the barn and have to pause any functions that are in the plans. We are currently working with an architect and a structural engineer to address our structural issues so we can use the space again as soon as possible. Stay tuned for our Go Fund Me Page, initiated by the young folks in our church and community.
Heating & CoolingWe have replaced our two old gas furnaces and added heat pumps. The heat pumps alone will reduce our carbon footprint significantly.
Insulation in the sanctuary attic has been increased. Retrofitting Lighting
We are installing LED lighting in the newer section of the church building. We are looking for options to maintain the traditional look in our sanctuary while also making the lighting more efficient.

Solar PanelsWe're installing solar panels on our church roof. This will help us to live into the reality of increase electrical costs without too much worry. It's investing in our longevity as a community centre.

The appliances in our church building are all fairly efficient. We are replacing the inefficient appliances in the barn so they can better service rentals and community events. We have included a fridge in the bar area.
|
GeneratorWe have added a Generac generator. We can now offer a warm space when the hydro is out for longer periods of time.
Tech Upgrades
Some of our tech is nearing the end of its' life and we want to replace it before then. Some tech is needed to enhance our audio or visual in the church for accessibility. Some upgrades are new additions so the things you need when you're using the space are here, and you don't need to go elsewhere to rent it.

All of the items will not only benefit our church, but also our community activities and programs, and those who use our space. We are looking to putting everything in place so youth, young adults, families, adults, and seniors have their accessibility needs met. While we'll be meeting the needs of the church today, we're also working on the church of tomorrow.
