365 Days of Prayer: December 1 - 7, 2025

11/28/2025

December 1, 2025
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. (Genesis 12:1-3)
Creating God, as we think of hope in the first week of Advent, we think of those who have had experiences in Residential Schools throughout Canada and those who have been harmed by Colonization. Help us to learn more and to be critical of the information that we read or hear. May we be mindful that it takes generations for healing, for the harm affected generations. May we find hope and live into it for change. Lead us, O God, to trust your promises and become bearers of blessing. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

December 2, 2025
A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him - the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord - and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. (Isaiah 11:1-3)
Creating God, as we continue to dwell in hope, we pray for those struggling to live on inadequate supports. We lift up friends receiving Ontario Works and ODSP, knowing these funds often fall short of basic needs. Open the eyes and hearts of those with power to bring change, so survival does not require constant battle. From what feels lifeless, bring new life, and grow peace within us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

December 3, 2025
He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. (Micah 5:4)
Creating God, we pray for hope for those in strained relationships. Be with couples, parents and children, and siblings seeking understanding. Where things are hard, offer glimmers of hope and courage to move forward together. Remind us we can get through difficult things and it is often worth it if we do not give up. In small places, your glory is born. Reign in our hearts, humble King. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

December 4, 2025
I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant, ‘I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations. (Psalm 89:1-4)
Creating God, with hope in our hearts, we pray for those living with addiction, in recovery, and vulnerable along the way. Be with them moment by moment, guiding wise decisions when more feels overwhelming. Be near to families and friends, whether they are supporting closely or loving from a distance, and surround them with care and understanding. Teach us empathy and compassion, and let gratitude be our song, echoing your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

December 5, 2025
“‘The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; he will do what is just and right in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.’ (Jeremiah 33:14-16)
Creating God, today we pray for hope for friends who live with chronic illnesses, diseases, and pain. For many, they have lived so long with these things that hope has been completely lost. Inspire scientists and researchers to find ways to make their lives easier. Surround us with practitioners who don’t give up. And God, may we learn more so we can be more empathetic when we hear their pleas.  Root us in righteousness, Lord, that your peace may blossom through us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

December 6, 2025
The Angel said to Zechariah, “John will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” (Luke 1:13-17)
Creating God, we pray for children and families all over the world. We pray they feel connected to a wider community who will nurture them and hold them accountable. We pray for hope wherever it is needed in their lives. We pray that all children have access to the kind of education that best suits them. We pray they have access to play and friendships. And we pray all children feel loved. Prepare us, God, to make room for your coming among us, and for a welcoming place for all within our church. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

December 7, 2025
After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favour and taken away my disgrace among the people.” (Luke 1:24-25)
Creating God, today we move into a week of thinking about Peace. Bring peace into our hearts today and may we feel you infuse us with it as we gather for worship. Help us to define what kind of peace we long for, in our hearts, minds and souls. God, be with us. For even in our disbelief, your word stands firm. Strengthen our faith, O God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

365 Days of Prayer: November 24 - 30, 2025

11/23/2025

November 24, 2025
For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving. (1 Timothy 4:4)
Creating God, it’s National Bible Week and I pray folks pull out their favourite bible sometime and discover a passage that fills their soul. May we each take a little time to highlight some of our favourites so that our loved ones can get a glimpse of our faith if they ever open our Bible up. God, grant us your eyes to see the truth and the way, in all the ups and downs of life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 25, 2025
I will give thanks to the Lord because of his righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High. (Psalm 7:17)
God, today is Statehood Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they two came together as a unified state. We pray that where conflict and division lay in the world, that new ways of being together emerge. God, the 25th of the month is also when we think of loved ones who have died. Be with those they leave behind and bless our loved ones in their place of final rest. For those who died fighting in ongoing conflicts or as refugees, hug their loved ones tightly this day. And God, we know you are the God of impossible things, and we look forward to seeing your divine ways at work in our world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 26, 2025
In that day you will say: “Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.” (Isaiah 12:4)
Today we honour the legacy of Charles M. Schulz, who created “Peanuts” on this Good Grief Day. For those who grew up loving Snoopy and the gang, help us to dive into an old comic to grab a smile in our day. For those who have not, may we share some Charlie Brown stories and humour so they can see what brought us joy. God, thank you for Charles Schulz, his work, and the joy he brought to many of our lives, in youth and in more experienced days. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 27, 2025
I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. (Psalm 69:30)
Loving God, today is Family Health History Day. We pray for all the health that is in our genes, but also in our world. Many may never know what their Family’s Health History is and we pray that their caregivers are able to keep an eye on preventable illnesses and diseases through the work of science. For those who do know, we pray the same. May we not take our health for granted, knowing that your light needs us to help the world shine brightly in the dark corners of the earth. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 28, 2025
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (1 Chronicles 16:34)
Comforting God, it’s Buy Nothing Day. It’s very hard not to buy something each day as that is what we’re programmed to do. It’s what we’re told to do to create and support healthy economics and more. Help us to also be aware that saving can create some relief for our mental health. But I pray that we are buying things that make a difference and matter in the lives of others or ourselves. Be in us to make wise decisions and to be practical in our spending. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 29, 2025
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17)
On Saturdays we pray for children and families. It’s National Square Dancing Day too. I pray that the children of today and tomorrow have a curiosity on how to dance together in groups. That they feel called to learn together and to connect in a way that might not be natural to them. Help us to dance with joy, humility, and in fun if we do give it a try. And God, help us to prepare to square dance at a barn dance in the spring. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 30, 2025
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:2, 6)
Creating God, Advent begins. It’s a time of waiting for the Saviour, for excitement and change, and for hope. Many hoped for someone who would help the oppressed, stand up against injustice, and change the world. Be in our hearts and search for the things we long a Saviour to do. God of light, shine into our waiting hearts. Let hope rise where shadows fall. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

365 Days of Prayer: November 17-23, 2025

11/14/2025

November 17, 2025
Fools give full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end. (Proverbs 29:11)
Comforting God, our world sees a lot of loss, especially as we get older. Today, we think of our friends who have suffered a loss due to suicide. Embrace them O God, especially if there are questions like ‘what if’ and ‘why’. Help us to hold our friends and loved ones close to our hearts and to reach out to them and let them know they are not alone. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 18, 2025
The Lord is slow to anger but great in power, the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. (Nahum 1:3)
All-Seeing God, we pray for our friends who are accident prone. Today, it’s Injury Prevention Day. May we take time to look around our homes, workplaces, and places of recreation to see if there’s anything we can do to remove a hazard. Where some are preventable, help us to be ready and willing to help. Grant us hearts that are drawn to help and serve one another. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 19, 2025
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Today we think of all the men in our lives on this International Men’s Day. We thank you for the men who live with integrity, who share their wisdom and skills, and who share their love and passions with others. We thank you for their humour and their hard work. God, help us to be mindful that our world needs great men to help lead, teach, pray, and comfort many in our world. Be with them. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 20, 2025
But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, ‘Salvation comes from the Lord.’”
Loving God, today is Transgender Day of Remembrance and for some of us, the idea of Transgender is confusing. For some of us, the idea is evolving. For some of us, the idea is our reality. Help us to be mindful that statistically, those who are Transgendered and die, are not from natural causes. Help us to simply love one another, as they are, without focusing on the need to know or to understand. May we focus on compassion, care, and loving one another. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 21, 2025
Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. (Psalm 95:1)
Comforting God, we pray for Substitute Teachers today. We think of all the things they experience walking into difference classes and groups to provide coverage for our regular teachers. May they have strong backs, persistent minds, and a continued passion to help, to teach, to guide, and to help our kids grow as good people in our world. May they also be granted rest and permission to let the day slide away and the end of the day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 22, 2025
All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. (2 Corinthians 4:15)
On Saturdays we pray for children and families and it’s Love Your Freckles day. So, for our freckled families out there, be with them. May the variations of our skin and skin colours bring about curiosities and lessen division or fear. Help us to be with one another in ways that create understanding, growth, and a bond that strengthens our communities. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 23, 2025
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. (Psalm 100:4)
Today is Thankful for My Dog Day and so we give thanks for all the ruff friends in our lives. We thank you, O God, for all our companions, human or furry, who help us get through our days and our lives a little easier. Help us to be mindful that we all need something a little different for support, comfort, and care. Help us to share those needs with others, and also to serve in the ways needed. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

365 Days of Prayer: November 10-16, 2025

11/11/2025

November 10, 2025
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. (Titus 2:11)
Creating God, it’s World NET Cancer Day where we’re asked to learn about Neuroendocrine Tumors that can be tricky to find and diagnose. May we be very aware of our bodies and any changes we experience. Help us to be great advocates for our health and may our practitioners be up-to-date on the latest treatments, tools, and techniques to keep us well. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 11, 2025
Cry out, “Save us, God our Saviour; gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.” (1 Chronicles 16:35)
Remembering God, today we recognize Remembrance Day and take a moment to pause and honour the brave men and women who gave their life so that we may live. We say their names to honour them, to live out our commitment to never forget them and to never forget the impact war has on families and communities. Help us to be creative to continue this much-needed tradition in our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 12, 2025
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves (Colossians 1:13)
God who loves all, Anti-Bullying Week is upon us and we pray for all who have bullies in their lives. Help us to have the courage and/or tools to call them out and let them know how they affect our being. Help them to have open hearts and minds to see the harm being done, or for the perspective shared. May we become a community and a world who can live together in harmony and understand each other on deeper levels. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 13, 2025
Rather, worship the Lord your God; it is he who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies. (2 Kings 17:39)
Loving God, we recognize World Kindness Day and give thanks for all who live out kindness in their souls all the days of their lives. We give thanks for those who try but who struggle due to many obstacles they have in their hearts. For those who are trying today, thanks! And may the kindness we experience ripple into the lives of others so we warm the hearts of many around us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 14, 2025
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6)
Comforting God, today is World Diabetes Day and we pray for all who live with Diabetes. We give thanks for the research and advancements that have come along the way to help us live longer and better. We give thanks for the discovery of insulin and that we can access it in our healthcare systems fairly easily. God, I pray that one day these needed medications and treatments, that we can’t live without, become free for all who need them. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 15, 2025
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (John 14:2)
On Saturdays we pray for children and families and it’s Family Civility Day, where we discover and respect families of all kinds and forms. We give thanks for the caregivers of children and pray that children are living their best lives with everything they need. We pray for families and the resources they need to raise the children in their care. Help us to hear needs that arise and concerns that we may be able to help with. Be with all our families O God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 16, 2025
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (Proverbs 15:1)
Today is Louis Riel Day and we give thanks for all that he did to protect and preserve the Metis in his time. For all who work diligently to ensure that our indigenous brothers and sisters can carry on their traditions and ways of living as best as they can. God, continue to help us work towards truth and reconciliation, and ensuring we respect and honour our indigenous communities. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

365 Days of Prayer: November 3-9, 2025

11/1/2025

November 3, 2025
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)
Creating God, today we recognize One Health Day, where we think about global health issues, collaborating, innovating solutions and sustainable practices to improve well-being around the world. Grant us the tools and resources to be able to bring advancements to our communities. And may we be open to trying new systems and techniques in hopes of making everyone well. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 4, 2025
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)
Inspiring God, today is the election in the USA. We pray for voters and those who are running for leadership. Be in the tools that mark the ballots, in the people who count them, and the results. May all go well and the people’s voices be heard. God, may we hold our friends to the south heavy in our prayers as we wait to see what comes next for them. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 5, 2025
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
Today is Guy Fawkes Day and some places around the world are celebrating with campfires and friends. God, today we ask you to be in us and around us as we live out all our days. May our systems of belief cause good and dispel evil. May we find ways to correct things that harmed others. Grant us open minds and souls as we figure out how to be the best we can be in our world today. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 6, 2025
I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants – but let them not turn to folly. (Psalm 85:8)
Loving God, today is Let’s Stop Shouting Day around the world. Grant us permission to shout the good things from the mountaintops, but quiet us down and soften our hearts where we might be shouting in anger. And for those we shout out because they just can’t hear us, may they visit an audiologist and get some hearing aids. Just kidding God, but I do pray we hear each other with respect and dignity all our days. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 7, 2025
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
Comforting God, today is Hug a Bear day and I pray that we have a bear we can hug or someone who is like a teddy bear to us. God, thank you for the gift of a hug that can calm our darkest fears, that can settle our hearts in sorrow, and that can help us rest in the chaos. May we always have someone around that we can hug, if we are huggers. And God, may I offer more hugs to friends and family when I see them. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 8, 2025
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. (2 Thessalonians 3:16)
On Saturdays we pray for children and families, and it’s World Town Planning Day. I wonder what children would envision for a town. I wonder what things they would include or get rid of. I wonder what things would be on their list of priorities. God, may we invite young people into our conversations when we’re doing any planning for today or for tomorrow. May we open our minds to their ideas and try something new. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

November 9, 2025
No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. (1 John 2:23)
Today is Remembrance Sunday and we think of all who served in our local communities. We give thanks for their courage and their service, for their sacrifice and for their families. God, grant us hearts that will always remember them and time to set aside to learn more about them if we don’t know much. May we strive for a peace-filled world today and all our days to come. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
