365 Days of Prayer: September 21-27, 2026

9/20/2026

September 21, 2026
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. (Deut 6:4)
Peaceful God, we recognize today is International Day of Peace and pray for places that have been in conflict for a long time. We pray for an end to all wars. We pray for a change in thinking on how we disagree and what we do about it. God, grant us open hearts and minds to see what and who you are calling us to be. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 22, 2026
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. (Deut 6:5)
Peace-Giving God, we continue to pray for peace this week and today we pray for peace in our hearts. Quiet our minds and open our souls to hear you and to feel you near. Grant us the tools we need to bring peace to ourselves and to each other. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 23, 2026
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. (Deut 6:6)
God of Truth, we pray for our country and our individual hearts as we strive to learn and grow about the real history of Canada. Nudge us to search out things we have yet to learn. Put in our hands the tools you seek us to use. Gift us with open minds as we learn our past as we work towards reconciliation. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 24, 2026
Impress them on your children. Talk about then when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (Deut 6:7)
Loving God, today I pray that we take our role as Christians who serve and who love a little more seriously. I pray for the many who have been harmed along the way. I pray for those who cause(d) harm. Help us to hold each other accountable and to remember your call in our lives and your will in the world. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 25, 2026
Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. (Deut 6:8)
God of mourning, be with each of us who has lost loved ones recently. May their Spirit surround us in ways that is unique to them. May your Spirit guide us through our grief and help us to see hope in our days. We pray that our loved ones are at peace. We pray they know they are loved. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 26, 2026
Write them on doorframes of your houses and on your gates. (Deut 6:9)
Parenting God, as we pray for families today, I pray that we’re teaching them good things. I pray that we teach them about justice and love, about serving and helping, and about knowing you. I pray that we can do all this while we’re playing, or teaching, or eating. Be in each of us and guide us to be good stewards of your light and love. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 27, 2026
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. (Deut 6:5-6)
God of all, today we recognize “Every Child Matters” in worship, expanding our knowledge and empathy of the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and wrongs done to them. Be in our hearts as we hear hard things. Be in our minds to receive information openly. And help us, O God, to be okay with what we feel. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

365 Days of Prayer: Sep 7 - 20, 2026

9/15/2026

September 7, 2026
Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” (Matt 18:21-22)
God of labour and rest, grant us a day of fun and planning as many of us get to have an extra day off. Be in our hearts as we prepare for the beginning of the school year. Be with teachers and parents and children who are getting ready. Be in us and all our days. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 8, 2026
“Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. As he began the settlement, a man who owed him 10,000 bags of gold was brought to him. (Matt 18:23-24)
God of new beginnings, today we think about teachers and students who are starting their new year. Bring them joy and excitement as they meet new friends. For those who are nervous, grant them peace. For those who are starting completely new, grant them hope. Keep everyone safe, O God. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 9, 2026
Since he was unable to pay, the master ordered that he and his family and all that he had be sold to repay the debt. At this the servant fell on his knees before him. “Be patient with me,” he begged, “and I will pay back everything.” The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go. (Matt 18:25-27)
God of comfort and care, bring to us glimpses of hope and love where we need it. As I think about National Teddy Bear Day, I pray that everyone has someone or something they can call theirs, that is there for them through thick and thin, and can offer comfort when needed. God be with us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 10, 2026
But when the servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him 100 silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. “Pay back what you owe me!” he demanded. (Matt 18:28)
Loving God, today we recognize World Suicide Prevention Day. For those affected by suicide, may they find peace. We give thanks for advocates and educators who teach us about signs to look for, who urge us to check in with others, and who challenge us to normalize talking about mental health. Be with those who are struggling. May they find hope. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 11, 2026
His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, “Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.” But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. (Matt 18:29-30)
Remembering God, today we remember the tragedy of 9-11. A day where the world stopped and paused. We pray for families who lost loved ones that day. We pray for the heroes who sacrificed themselves. And we pray for those of us left behind who remember. Grant harmony and peace in our world. May we replace discord with a challenge for doing good in our world. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 12, 2026
When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened. Then the master called the servant in. “You wicked servant,” he said, “I canceled all the debt of yours because you begged me to.” (Matt 18:31-32)
Parenting God, we pray for families today. We pray the first week back at school went well. We pray children have the food and resources needed to be successful students. We pray that families have the time to spend with them to help their success. God, bless them all. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 13, 2026
“Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?” In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart. (Matt 18:33-35)
Forgiving God, instill within us a heart of forgiveness. Grant us grace to let go of some of the things we hold onto. Grant us courage to take on things that are hard, but worth working on. Help us to find ways to work on ourselves so we can be great workers for your kingdom, here on earth. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 14, 2026
The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who sent out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and set them into his vineyard. (Matt 20:1-2)
God of hard things, today is National Sober Day and we celebrate with those who are working hard on themselves to recover from addiction. Give them strength and perseverance to get through each moment of each day. May we take time to learn and grow in this area, so we can be helpful to anyone we encounter who battles addiction. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 15, 2026
About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing. He told them, “You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.” So they went. (Matt 20:3-5)
Hope-filled God, today is the International Day of Democracy. We pray for places that don’t have democracy in place. We pray for courage in leaders to ensure real democracy. As we get closer to municipal elections, we pray we research and vote with integrity and your will in our hearts. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 16, 2026
He went out again about noon and about three in the afternoon and did the same thing. About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, “Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?” (Matt 20:5-6)
Playful God, today is National Play-Doh day and I hope and pray some of our prayer warriors can be playful today. I hope that we can find a little child within and bring them out in molding and creating something. And if they do, O God, I pray they’ll share it with us in the comments. God, keep us playful all our days. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 17, 2026
“Because no one has hired us,” they answered. He said to them, “You also go and work in my vineyard.” (Matt 20:7)
Listening God, grant us ears to hear your beauty and creation in our world. Strengthen our hearts so we can be quiet so we can hear the care, concerns, joys, and journeys of others. Bless us with ears that hear more than words, but connect with the hearts and souls of those around us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 18, 2026
When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, “Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.” (Matt 20:8)
Loving God, today is International Equal Pay Day and how fitting the scripture is this week. Help us to see where inequities exist. Help us to learn what a living wage looks like. May we take time to research what wages and living costs are in other areas around the world and to learn and grow within what we discover. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 19, 2026
The workers who were hired about five in the afternoon came and each received a denarius. So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each of them also received a denarius. When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner. (Matt:20-9-11)
Parenting God, be with all of us who make decisions for young people. Be in our hearts and minds, in our values and ethics, and in the way we think about families and what they are dealing with. Help us be fair, open, and willing to learn what is different today from what we experienced yesterday. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

September 20, 2026
“Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?” So the last will be first, and the first will be last. (Matt 20:15-16)
Neighbouring God, we pray for neighbours near and far today. Give us courage to get to know those who live around us. Grant us openness to learn and understand each other and a sense of comfort, knowing that good neighbours make safer communities. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen
