God, we’re beginning the last week of the month. It has been a long month with a lot of snow impacting the things we do. Help us look for your light and hope this week as we move closer to spring. We’ll gather for a lunch and learn today and we ask that you keep us safe as we travel. Grant us open minds with lots of great questions for our speaker. Give us light and love as we share in a time of fellowship. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God of all life, we hold space on the 25th of each month to remember our loved ones who have passed. We think of all the great memories we have of them and how much they are missed. We may wonder how they would handle some of the things happening in the world today. Grant us time to laugh and to cry. Grant us permission to speak their name and talk as if they are with us in this very moment. And may we always remember that those who touched our hearts, remain with us all our days, just in different ways. In the name of your greatest Love, Jesus. Amen.

God of joy, today is National “Write a Letter to an Elder Day.” Though we may not write like we used to, give us the tools and creativity to think of someone we look up to and help us craft an inspiring note of thanks. Then grant us the time or the postage to send it to them. Give us creativity to possibly even include something special that they enjoy. Help keep us connected. Help us bring back some of the lovely old ways we used to do things. Help us give thanks. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Thank you, God, for the gift of surprise that today is National Pokemon Day. For those of us who enjoy these little pocket monsters, grant us permission to play and to share with others. For those who aren’t into them, grant us permission just to be playful today. May we talk about the toys we loved as children, the games we played, the music we danced to, and the things we used to imagine. Thank you, God, for letting us work hard and play hard. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God of all things natural and good, today we think of “skip the straw day” and wonder how we can eliminate one-time use things in our lives. Help us to look around our kitchens, our restaurants, and our stores to see what we might be able to change in our lives. Perhaps it’s a time for decluttering as we move into spring cleaning. Perhaps it’s a time to reassess what’s important. What do we do because we have always done it? Is it time to change? God be in our hearts in our wonderings and as we try new things. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God of childhood and youth, gift us with a youthful spirit today. We pray for all the young people around the world that they have all they need to survive and to thrive. May we surround them with love and support, kindness and compassion, care and concern as they journey through life. May your Spirit be within their parents as they do their best to raise amazing and caring young people. Specifically today, O God, grant them motivation and purpose in their lives, giving them something to work towards. May they look beyond themselves to see the world with eyes wide open. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Holy God, as we gather for worship today, we are mindful that we’re about to begin the season of Lent. Today we’ll think about ashes as we prepare for Ash Wednesday. Hold us deep in your heart as we gather, keeping us safe as we travel, and open as we worship. Grant us the time to set things aside to be present to what you have in store for us today. For those who are coming to us for the first time, either in-person or online, may they not feel anxious but warmly welcomed. Bless us as we sing, pray, and grow together. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
