365 Days of Prayer: February 24 to March 2

2/19/2025

February 24, 2025
God, we’re beginning the last week of the month. It has been a long month with a lot of snow impacting the things we do. Help us look for your light and hope this week as we move closer to spring.  We’ll gather for a lunch and learn today and we ask that you keep us safe as we travel.  Grant us open minds with lots of great questions for our speaker.  Give us light and love as we share in a time of fellowship.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 25, 2025
God of all life, we hold space on the 25th of each month to remember our loved ones who have passed. We think of all the great memories we have of them and how much they are missed.  We may wonder how they would handle some of the things happening in the world today.  Grant us time to laugh and to cry.  Grant us permission to speak their name and talk as if they are with us in this very moment. And may we always remember that those who touched our hearts, remain with us all our days, just in different ways. In the name of your greatest Love, Jesus. Amen.

February 26, 2025
God of joy, today is National “Write a Letter to an Elder Day.” Though we may not write like we used to, give us the tools and creativity to think of someone we look up to and help us craft an inspiring note of thanks. Then grant us the time or the postage to send it to them. Give us creativity to possibly even include something special that they enjoy. Help keep us connected. Help us bring back some of the lovely old ways we used to do things. Help us give thanks. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 27, 2025
Thank you, God, for the gift of surprise that today is National Pokemon Day. For those of us who enjoy these little pocket monsters, grant us permission to play and to share with others.  For those who aren’t into them, grant us permission just to be playful today. May we talk about the toys we loved as children, the games we played, the music we danced to, and the things we used to imagine. Thank you, God, for letting us work hard and play hard. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 28, 2025
God of all things natural and good, today we think of “skip the straw day” and wonder how we can eliminate one-time use things in our lives. Help us to look around our kitchens, our restaurants, and our stores to see what we might be able to change in our lives. Perhaps it’s a time for decluttering as we move into spring cleaning. Perhaps it’s a time to reassess what’s important. What do we do because we have always done it? Is it time to change? God be in our hearts in our wonderings and as we try new things. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

March 1, 2025
God of childhood and youth, gift us with a youthful spirit today. We pray for all the young people around the world that they have all they need to survive and to thrive. May we surround them with love and support, kindness and compassion, care and concern as they journey through life. May your Spirit be within their parents as they do their best to raise amazing and caring young people. Specifically today, O God, grant them motivation and purpose in their lives, giving them something to work towards. May they look beyond themselves to see the world with eyes wide open.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

March 2, 2025
Holy God, as we gather for worship today, we are mindful that we’re about to begin the season of Lent. Today we’ll think about ashes as we prepare for Ash Wednesday. Hold us deep in your heart as we gather, keeping us safe as we travel, and open as we worship. Grant us the time to set things aside to be present to what you have in store for us today. For those who are coming to us for the first time, either in-person or online, may they not feel anxious but warmly welcomed. Bless us as we sing, pray, and grow together. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

365 Days of Prayer: February 17 to February 23

2/15/2025

February 17, 2025
God, some of us dislike Mondays. Today, help us be grateful that we get another Monday to do your work and to share your love in this world. Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day and I pray that everyone in our midst does something to bring a smile to the lives of others. God, remind us to be kind to ourselves as well.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 18, 2025
Progressive God, we give thanks for all who have created things to make our lives easier over the course of history. We give thanks for our modes of transportation, for heat and electricity, for running water, and for ways to stay in touch in the moment.  Thank you for those who are advancing research in diseases that have been with us for far too long.  Grant us your grace in trying something new, in helping others to make their lives a little easier, and to find ways to make folks smile. In the name of your greatest Love, Jesus. Amen.

February 19, 2025
God of greatness, as we get closer to an election, we ask you to be in our hearts and minds as we seek out each party’s platform. May we be critical in our thinking and wondering, and bold enough to ask questions. Help us to be mindful of people that are unlike ourselves and that all may be served well.  May you be in our hearts as we consider our future leaders. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 20, 2025
Thank you, God, for this day. Today we celebrate pets and all the animals around the world. We give thanks to zoos that offer us opportunities to see animals we may never see otherwise. We give thanks for pet rescues that save animals from precarious situations and who rehabilitate them to have better lives. Help us to appreciate the non-humans around us. May we appreciate the birds singing, the bunnies hopping, or the dogs playing in the snow. May we see you in their eyes. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 21, 2025
Comforting God, today we give thanks for the caregivers in our lives. Thank you for our parents and our children, for our doctors and nurses and all the specialists that listen to and attend to our needs. Help us to be kind and always thankful for all that they do. May our systems continue to adapt to the rising advocacy they do for us when we are not quite ourselves. Renew and restore them for the continuing work ahead. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 22, 2025
God of thought and wonder, we give thanks for World Thinking Day today. Thank you to our Lord Baden-Powell and his wife Olave who founded the scout and guide movement around the world. We give thanks for the experiences, learnings, and relationships fostered through Scouting and Guiding. May we continue to support organizations that encourage youth to learn and grow all around the world.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 23, 2025
Holy God, we pray for a boring weather day. As we worship and weave in our Annual General Meeting, be in us and around us as we do your work in the world. Remind us that we are just here for a time, and you need us to do important things to help one another. May we be risk-takers and engineers in what church looks like in the present and beyond. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

365 Days of Prayer: February 10 to February 16

2/4/2025

February 10, 2025
God of all our days, thank you for another Monday in our lives. We pray that it’s a day that goes easy on us. Today is International Epilepsy Day and we pray for all of us who live with Epilepsy. We pray for the researchers and the neuro-scientists who are making strides in treatment and cures. Grant them creativity, perspective, and plant a new possibility within them. Keep our loved ones safe and help us to learn more about it.  God be with us all.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 11, 2025
Comforting God, as we come to you in prayer, we realize the world is a crazy place. Be in the chaos and may we find you at work. Today we think of the farmers in our community and around the world. They work so hard and maybe do not receive the thank you’s that we might offer for them in our prayers. God, as we celebrate Canada’s Agriculture Day, help us to support our local farmers and to find ways to do so in most of our days. Bring us together as a community to learn and grow about their work near and far.  In the name of your greatest Love, Jesus. Amen.

February 12, 2025
God of intellect, as we think about today being “Darwin Day,” help us to use our minds to be curious about our faith and the world. Where we are challenged by others in our beliefs and faith, help us to remember how our faith has evolved just as humans have. How Biblical stories and history and science do weave together though Creation stories may look a little different in timing. Bring us hope that we have more and more intellectual people in the pews challenging us to own what we think and believe. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 13, 2025
Thank you, God, for this day. Today we focus on giving thanks for all that we have and all that we’ve received in life. We’re grateful for our friends and families, for shelter and food, for pets and wildlife, and for you, O God. Thank you for challenging us to be different in our world. Thank you for giving us risk-taking hearts that, even if they bungle up in stress during the process, the result of taking the risk is most often beautiful. Keep giving us courage. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 14, 2025
Gracious God, thank you for love in our lives. Be it people, or food, or books, or music, or whatever… thank you for that which brings us joy and warms our hearts. May we take the time to let someone know how much they mean to us and what they add to our lives. Grant us the time and space to love ourselves – repeating it a few times while we look in the mirror. Help us to be kind to ourselves and those around us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 15, 2025
God of rising stars and growing leaders, be in our young people today. Encourage them to be eager to get out into the world to go to church or their activities that are scheduled. May they connect with friends and families in various ways today and take time to rest their minds. Be with those who are raising them, granting them grace, patience, perseverance, and creativity to do this important task in our world. Be with us all. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

February 16, 2025
Holy God, as we prepare to worship today, we officially welcome a few more new members into our church family.  We pray that they feel connected in many ways beyond our worship services. May those who are thinking of joining the church reach out and may we find some new and creative ways to do various things to serve our community.  We trust you, O God, to be within all of our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
