He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. (Psalm 40:3)
Youthful God, today is Youth Day and we pray that all our young people feel inspired and encouraged to learn who they are and find their spot in the world. May they try new things and uncover mysteries we may have been longing to find answers for. May they be permitted to be youthful, learning from mistakes, and growing in wisdom. Help us to be light for our young people today and everyday. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
 
January 13, 2026
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (Isaiah 43:19)
Creating God, today is “Make Your Dream Come True Day,” and I wonder what dreams are among us. I wonder about the mom who wants to be a rockstar, the dad who wants to be a Michelin chef, the teenager longing to publish a book, or the child who strives to win a race. Whatever our dreams are, may we hold them and share them with you. You are the God of the impossible. Regardless of age and ability, you can make things happen. God, some of us might need your help more than others to make our dreams come true. Be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)
Holy God, on this World Logic Day, let us have some fun sharing the knowledge we have gained over the years. May we enjoy a game of Trivia Pursuit or watch Jeopardy! with friends to challenge ourselves. Thank you for the gift of education, in whatever form it looks like for us. Thank you for teachers, books, and curious minds that keep us going. May we continue to learn about our faith and our history as well. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
Comforting God, today is Hat Day and I pray that we have a space to wear a hat or some kind of accessory to mark the day. What a fun way to spark conversation or to cover up the hair that sometimes won’t do anything. God, thank you for fashion and comfort, for love and for warmth. May our hats be a source of heat in this wintry season. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
Creating God, today we celebrate religious freedom near and far. Sometimes it’s easier said than done as we might not understand each other, our beliefs and practices, and what it all means when we come together. Challenge us to explore the faiths of those around us, and dive into the similarities and the slight differences we have. May we remember that freedom means more than just tolerance. It takes acceptance and love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea. (Psalm 46:1-2)
Parenting God, we pray for families on Saturdays and today we’re thinking of all the children and youth who are inventors in our midst. May families encourage them to try new things and see what the world could really benefit from in good ways. May we work together to make those inventions a reality and to encourage creativity within all. God, remove limitations from our minds if we don’t believe they can do it. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. (Isaiah 26:3)
Ever-Present God, today is World Religion Day, and we gather for worship to celebrate Christian Unity. We understand that religion is not for everyone, but understanding there is something bigger than ourselves who roots for us and wants the best for us, can bring hope to many just as it brings hope to us. God, grant us open hearts and minds as we all work together for the common good of community. May we set aside the institution of religion and work with the Spirit in our hearts. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Mysterious God, today is the day that wraps up the twelve days after Christmas. It’s the time for undecorating and finding one more piece after everything has been put away. God, help us to find a way to leave something of Christmas up to remind us of the joy and love the season brings. Nudge us with ways to continue living generously and in a spirit of abundance. God, your love through Jesus is amazing and we give thanks that he walks with us each day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2)

Creating God, today is Epiphany, where we celebrate the arrival of the Magi into Jesus’ birth story. It’s the day we recognize that everyone knew who Jesus was and how he can change all lives, not just a few. We pray that as we think about the star they followed to find him, that we too can tap into the light Jesus shines into the darkness. God, be with those who need a little light in their lives. May we look for them too and shine the light you put within us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 11:19)
Holy God, we pray for the world today and all who have made resolutions. We pray for their success, and also that they have permission to fall off track a little along the way. We do our best learning in making mistakes. Remind us that mistakes are but a moment and don’t need to last a lifetime. Push us and encourage us to stay the course. God be with us in our resolutions. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should not longer be slaves to sin, because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. (Romans 6:6-7)
Spirit-Gifting God, we celebrate Elvis Presley’s birthday today and give thanks that he shared his time and talents with the world. We give thanks that we can enjoy his music and stories for many years to come. God, may we learn from his life and his legacy, ensuring that celebrities can live somewhat normal lives. Protect them from harm and surround them with wise and good people. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Creating God, today is “Play God Day” where we are encouraged to go beyond ourselves and be and do for others. May we have time to reflect on the things we would do and change if money was unlimited or our time and talents were abundant. May we think of those who have less and wonder what it is we can do to help them in the long-term, not just the short-term. And may we think of how we might answer some prayers we may hear today. Inspire us, O God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you. (Isaiah 42:9)
Parenting God, we pray for families on Saturdays and ask you to surround parents with sanity and wisdom. Infuse children with a safe curiosity and abundant kindness. For those who are being bullied at home, school, and/or work, may they have allies around them so they can continue being their authentic selves. Put in all of us kind hearts, O God, and patience… lots and lots of patience. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds. (Ephesians 4:22-23)
Ever-Present God, we’ll gather for worship today celebrating Jesus’ baptism. Remind us of the symbolic nature of water, but also of it’s necessary role in our lives. May we think about those who live without safe drinking water in their communities. Encourage us to do what we can to fuel change so that everyone has equal access to something we all need. And may we think of our own baptisms today, as we pray for those who are preparing to be baptized in the year ahead. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
