365 Days of Prayer: October 13-19, 2025

10/10/2025

October 13, 2025
Our Redeemer – The Lord Almighty is his name – is the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 47:4)
O Holy One, on this Thanksgiving Monday, we take time to give thanks for all the good things in our lives. Thank you for health, friends, family, and the changes in the seasons. Thank you for shelter, food, and clean water.  Help us to provide all these things, as we are able, to our neighbours in need. We give thanks to farmers and all who provide food. And God, thanks for Chocolate! In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light. (2 Samuel 22:29)
God, today is World Standards Day, where we recognize and celebrate some of the things that have been standardized so we can work together well, all over the world. Where the world seeks power, help us seek service. Where the world values wealth, help us treasure kindness. Where the world promotes fear, help us walk in faith. Guide us to live by your standards of love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? (Psalm 8:3-4)
Today, O God, we focus on personal and community dignity. On this Global Dignity Day, help us define what dignity means for us.  Teach us to honour one another with respect. Help us to lift up the forgotten. Guide us to walk in the way of love and justice. May we grant each of your children the dignity they deserve. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty. (Haggai 2:6-7)
Loving God, thank you for the values that guide our lives. We give thanks for the Ten Commandments that give us good rules to live by. Help us to choose kindness over cruelty, truth over falsehood, and compassion over indifference. May our words and actions today reflect the love of Christ in all we do. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8)
God of mercy, today is Child Poverty Day and we think of all who live without the basic necessities of life. For families who are without food, safety, care, shelter, or clothing, may we hear their pleas. Help us to be a community where we do our best to ensure no one is without. Guide us in discovering ways to end poverty, and help us to see ways we can support each other in our neighbourhoods. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God. (Psalm 42:11)
On Saturdays we pray for children and families. Today is International Repair Day and we think of all the things around us that may need fixing. First, we give thanks for the skills and tools that help us to repair things.  We also give thanks that we have things to repair.  But God, I think we need to pray not just for the objects and tools that need our help, but for our communities, families, and relationships. Help us imagine renewal. Help us to address brokenness. May we help provide hope. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. (2 Peter 1:16)
Creating God, today we pray as it’s Evaluate Your Life Day. Help us to reflect on our accomplishments and the things we thought we might have done by now. May we consider the great things we can still conquer and achieve before our earthly time is up. Let us not dwell on the negatives or the ‘what if’s’ but focus on the ‘I will’s’ and ‘I can’s’. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
