The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” (Matthew 28:5-6)
God there are many things we can pray for today, but today we think of our world. If we imagine you’ve created the earth which is a box and we are all the crayons within it, we can only imagine the kind of beautiful picture we could colour by working together. On this National Crayon Day, help us to colour our world a little brighter – one smile, one kindness, or one hug – today. Be in us always. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. (Romans 10:17)
On this April’s Fools Day, help us to be share some laughs together. May we think way outside the box and be fools for Christ and our world, coming up with ridiculous ideas that would change systems and foundations that have long-needed change. May we talk to others about these inane thoughts in hopes that they inspire us to seek you within them and possibly come up with something that might actually work. Keep us longing, dreaming, and working toward good things for all. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:3)
Gracious God, we have people in our midst that may be a little different from us. They may think and act differently than we do, and they offer us new perspectives on things. Today is World Autism Awareness Day and may we do some learning together. May we discover how to be better supports in our community so that all feel welcomed, loved, valued, and purpose-filled. Help us to set aside judgment and assumptions so that we can be open to learning and growing together. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

I want to know Christ – yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. (Philippians 3:10-11)
God, as we come together and read this prayer today, bless each of us. Grant us comfort and grace to help us get through the day unscathed and filled with joy. May we take a moment to be an artist on this “Independent Artist Day”. May we get out the paint, or crayons, or pencils, maybe even an instrument, or whatever it is that helps us to create something. You gift us with creativity in our own unique ways, and though some many not appreciate and understand our stick figure drawings, we know you do. Help us to continue to inspire and encourage others in all they do. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. (Psalms 121:1-2)
Loving God, you created us all in your image – beautiful and perfect. Though some may not agree, we are all your beloved children. Today is “Day of Silence” where the LGBTQ2+ community and allies silently show their love and support to promote awareness. God, as a personal supporter and a lover of all your children, I pray that we can get beyond the things we may not understand or agree with, understanding that we are not the judges, but those who are called to walk with all. May we not be distracted by the needs in our world or focus on hatred, but instead, may we learn, grow, and help each other to create a beautiful world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)
God, today is “Go for Broke Day” and though many will associate it with gambling, I’m praying that we take the perspective with our children and youth. Today, may we surprise our young people by not saying no to anything they ask of us, and seeing what a lot of yesses does for their soul. Help us to keep building things within and beyond our walls to welcome children and youth into our midst. Challenge us to go beyond what we understand and to see what possibilities are before us. And God, be with parents… bless their souls! In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. (Hebrews 9:27-28)
God, there are so many national days to choose from today and as we get closer to Good Friday, maybe “Plan Your Epitaph Day” would be fitting to consider. May we think about what we might put on our gravestone at the end of our lives. May we wonder what our family might put on it. May these wonderings have us thinking about the gifts and legacies we offer to others near and far. And may we take a moment to wonder what we might write on Jesus’ Epitaph if we were gifted that privilege. And God, we pray for good weather so we can be together in church today. Help us to be warm and welcoming to all. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
