God, thank you for another Monday in our lives. May we take the day to consider what we’d like to accomplish this week and where we might be able to share your light and love. Today is “National I Want You To Be Happy” day, where we find what we can do for others that will bring a smile to their face. May we take this as an opportunity to do random acts of kindness. Be with us as we share your joy. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God of all life, today we pray for one of our church families on the loss of a beautiful soul. Be with all who are grieving or are preparing for the end of someone’s life. Be with us as we treasure each day and the moments we share with each other. Bless us in remembering and in honouring our loved ones. In the name of your greatest Love, Jesus. Amen.

God of our Ash Wednesdays, be with us today. We begin the somber Christian season of Lent and mark our foreheads with the sign of the cross using ashes. It is a symbol to remind us that we are yours. It is a symbol that reminds us we are part of something bigger than what we see or know around us. As we think about what we might give up for Lent, help us to, instead, consider taking something on. Maybe we’ll learn something to help our community. Maybe we’ll be intentional about setting time aside to be with others. Maybe we’ll take this time for self-care. Whatever we chose God, be with us.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God who guides us away from temptation, as we enter the desert of Lent, remind us of the choices we made to take on or to give up. Whatever it is, help us to find something each day that will help motivate us to start and continue this journey. May we set aside our egos and open our hearts and minds to learning or understanding or doing. God, where negativity or evil sits within us, cleanse us. Purify us of these things so we can share your light through Lent and beyond. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God, you speak loudly through us and today, we ask you to help us be heard. Where the world is growing in tension, help us to share your light and your hope and your love and your grace. May we show compassion and patience. May we long for peace and harmony. May we remove ourselves from the ‘us and them’ conversation, reminding everyone that we’re all on the same team. Help us to remove the borders and boundaries around us that separate us so we can work together for a better world. Help us hold leaders accountable. Grant us creativity to offer other options or solutions to the problems we see today. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God who loves children and youth, help us to reach them. Where we fail, pick us up and shine the path. Where we win, grant us peace and challenge us to go beyond. Where we hesitate, push us from fear and into hope and confidence. May we help our young know the importance of spirituality and how it can help guide our lives. May we help them learn what good you’ve done in our own lives so they can find hope. And God, if we struggle to understand them and the world they live in today, help us lead them to someone who can be a spiritual advisor to them. God, be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

“Worship your God and serve Him only.”
God, you deserve our worship and praise. You give us the gift of life filled with talents and treasures. Some of which we may never fully live out and some of which we will share all our days. God, as we read about Jesus entering the wilderness for 40 days and endured temptations by the devil, help us to recognize the things we’re tempted by. Who? What? Why? How? Do we give in or are we strong enough to overcome? May the Spirit guide us as we question and as we seek the answers. Today, especially God, help us resist temptation and may we rejoice in the strength you give us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
