365 Days of Prayer: March 17 to March 23

3/17/2025

March 17, 2025
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives. If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner! (Proverbs 11:30-31)
On this St. Patrick’s Day, be with us, O God. May the fun of wearing green and celebrating everything Irish be good for our hearts. For our folks in Post-Secondary institutions, keep them safe as they enjoy the day. May they stay within the boundaries of innocence and joy.  God help to keep you in our hearts as we start the week off.  And may we take the time to give thanks to someone who has offered us help in some way. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. (3 John 1:4)
God, we give thanks that today is Global Recycling Day. Help us to declutter something in our home and to set aside the things that are in good condition so that someone else may be able to use it. Help us to have courage and a mind-set to make any decluttering decisions easy. Be in our hearts, O God, and encourage us to ask the question, “where will I put this” or “when will I use it” before I buy anything new. God, help us to be good stewards of all the gifts in our world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. (2 Thessalonians 2:15)
Gracious God, we give you thanks for education and understanding. We give thanks for reading and writing. We give thanks for the tools in our lives that have been shared with us so that we can grow into who we are called to be.  On this “International Read to Me Day,” help us to set aside time to read a story or a poem to someone, young or old. Remind us of what is like to have a story shared with us so that we could bring it to life in our minds. And God, if we can encourage a Bible story to be read, I’d be very okay with that. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

March 20, 2025
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret – it leads only to evil. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. (Psalms 37:8-9)
God of our March Equinox be with us as we dream of spring’s coming. Help us to see the world beyond the beauty of the land, and to look to the moon and stars tonight. May we be mindful that your creation isn’t just in the life on earth, but life beyond earth. Thank you for the gift of the galaxies and constellations, of the stars and the planets, and the sun and the moon. May we be mindful that many others may be looking to the night sky at the same time we are and ask you to bless them too. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

March 21, 2025
Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the Lord, who makes you holy. (Leviticus 20:8)
O God of word and story, song and praise,
our poetry of prayer, to you we raise.
We thank you for the gift of word
and for our minister who can sometimes, be quite absurd.
Be in our hearts as we venture out today
and may we speak poetically, on this World Poetry Day.
Put a pep in our step and a bounce in our soul
So we can be a joy to the world and be made whole.
O Holy One, we pray with paper and pen,
and in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

March 22, 2025
One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. (Psalms 27:4)
Today the world recognizes Earth Hour. Help us, loving God, to find things we can do to be more mindful of the power that we use. Help us to not be wasteful, as all that we have is a gift and a blessing. There are many around the world that do not have our luxuries. We pray for our younger friends and ask you to help them to challenge us to do and be better. We pray that they can find you in the busyness of their lives and that they are curious about the things that are bigger than themselves.  Be with us all. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

March 23, 2025
“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.” (Hosea 6:1-2)
God, you are worthy of our praise and worship. Be with us as we rise for the day and prepare to head to church. Keep us safe on the road. For our friends who are anxious about trying a church out today, may they find comfort in knowing that we were all there at some point. May they know that their very presence will be welcome where they go and that they will find a friend or be left alone as they wish. But God, help us to be gracious hosts in our precious sanctuaries today. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
