365 Days of Prayer: June 2 to June 8, 2025

6/10/2025

June 2, 2025
The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels. (Revelation 3:5)
We celebrate “Canadian Environment Week” this week and God, we pray for all the beauty that surrounds us. Help us to be mindful of the impact we have on everything and everyone around us. Help to find ways to do better and may funding be easily available to make it happen in bigger projects. Thank you for this beautiful world we live in. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. (John 12:25)
God, we celebrate activists who fight to right wrongs in systems and in our world. Eddie Mabo is our focus today, where he fought for indigenous land rights in Australia. We give thanks for his perseverance and efforts. Though we know there’s still so much we need to learn and do for reconciliation near and far, help us to always have open minds and open hearts. Please remind us that we are all your children and love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

June 4, 2025
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. (2 Corinthians 4:17)
God, we pray for children around the world as we recognize “International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression.” Help us to create and mold our souls and those around us into being good people. Help us to find ways to calm our tempers or find productive ways to work through it. May we see where harm is being done and not be afraid to do something about it. May we help each other in love and in community.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

June 5, 2025
I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. (Job 19:25)
God, may we reach into cupboards and drawers and find some blank cards today. Gift us with time and creativity to send one (or some) out to brighten someone’s day. May we take the time to say thank you or thinking of you. May the card we send offer a surprise of delight for the receiver and may our hearts feel full. God be in us on this Acts of Cardness Day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
Today, we pray for veterans – present and past. This is the anniversary of D-Day and we think of what soldiers might have experienced that day. We give thanks for the fight they had within them. We give thanks for the families who sacrificed them. And we give thanks for the freedoms we still have because of their courage. God, be with all who serve. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

June 7, 2025
The name of the righteous is used in blessings, but the name of the wicked will rot. (Proverbs 10:7)
On Saturdays we pray for children and families. We pray that the worship service in the barn will help folks come together to sing and to praise and to pray together. We pray we have great energy to honour the last 100 years of The United Church, and that we have even more energy to see it through to the next 100 years. God, thank you for all who are participating in the service, and we give thanks for the barn as the backdrop for this memory in our church life. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

June 8, 2025
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. (1 John 3:16)
Today is officially Pentecost in the church. Though we don’t have a service at our location, we join with our neighbours at Westminster in Orangeville to celebrate Pentecost, 100 years, and Communion together. Be in us as we work together to do amazing things in our celebrations and may we feel united even more than we did before. God be with us.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
