While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.” (Matthew 9:18)
Passionate God, on the first of the month we are intentional about praying for Truth & Reconciliation. The focus is our history, our present, and our future relationships with our Indigenous brothers and sisters. They have been wrongly harmed and stripped of their humanity, dignity, and rights. And yes, it still happens today. It may look and be done in different ways, but it still exists. Help us to be allies for change, for walking in new ways, and for healing. This is hard work, but you entrust us with it. Show us what we need to do, O God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Loving God, today we think about what it means to get up and go when someone needs us. Jesus did not hesitate to walk alongside those who were hurting, grieving, or searching for hope. Help us to notice the people around us who may need compassion, encouragement, or simply someone willing to show up. Give us hearts that are willing to move when love calls us forward. And where we feel too tired, busy, or overwhelmed to help, remind us that even small acts of kindness can change someone’s day. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Healing God, today we pray for all who are carrying pain quietly. Some struggles are visible, while others are hidden deep within hearts, minds, and bodies. Remind us that reaching out for help is an act of courage, not weakness. Just as the woman reached for Jesus with hope, may we also reach for healing, support, and community when we need it. Help us to be gentle with one another, knowing we never fully understand what someone else may be carrying. God, surround all who are weary with compassion, strength, and hope. Hope-Filled God, today we pray for faith the size of a mustard seed. Remind us that even the smallest spark of hope can carry us through difficult days. When we feel uncertain, exhausted, or discouraged, help us to hold onto the possibility that healing, change, and new life can still happen. Give us courage to reach toward you in prayer, in community, and in trust. And help us to be people who inspire hope in others through kindness, compassion, and love. Compassionate God, today we give thanks for the ways you see us fully. In moments where we feel overlooked, forgotten, or exhausted, remind us that you notice our pain and our perseverance. Help us to hear the words “take heart” deep within our souls when life feels heavy. May faith encourage us to keep going, even when answers or healing take time. And may we become people who offer comfort, reassurance, and kindness to those who need hope today. God, help us to trust that healing can happen in many ways. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Loving God, as we pray for children and families today, remind us that hope can still exist even when situations feel impossible. Families carry so much behind closed doors: grief, stress, exhaustion, worry, and uncertainty. Help parents, grandparents, caregivers, and children to find strength in one another and support within community. Where families feel overwhelmed or divided, bring peace and healing. And when the world laughs at hope or tells us to give up, remind us that you are still working in ways we cannot yet see. God, surround all families with love, patience, rest, and encouragement today. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Ever-Present God, as we gather for worship and community today, remind us of the life and hope you continue to bring into our world. Thank you for communities of faith, and all the people who show up each week searching for connection, healing, meaning, and belonging. Help us to be communities that lift one another up, especially when life feels heavy or uncertain. May our churches be places where people feel welcomed, valued, and safe to grow in faith. And as news of Jesus spread through the region, may we also share your love and hope through the ways we live, serve, and care for each other. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Help us to create spaces where people feel safe, valued, and included. Whether we gather with family, friends, neighbours, or church community, may we listen deeply and speak kindly. God, remind us that holy moments often happen in ordinary places and everyday conversations. Open our hearts to the people before us and help us to notice where your Spirit is moving among us. Promise-Keeping God, sometimes we struggle to believe that new life, change, or hope can still happen. We grow tired, discouraged, or impatient waiting for prayers to be answered. Help us to trust that you are still working, even when we cannot yet see the outcome. Remind us that your timing is not always our timing and that hope can appear in unexpected ways. Give us patience in the waiting and courage to keep believing in possibilities we may have given up on. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Listening God, today help us to slow down enough to truly hear. In a noisy and busy world, it can be difficult to listen deeply to you, to ourselves, and to one another. Teach us to pay attention to the conversations around us and the feelings within us. Help us to hear the needs of those who may be struggling quietly. And God, may we also listen for the nudges of your Spirit guiding us toward compassion, justice, kindness, and love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Everlasting God, today we pray for all who feel limited by age, ability, exhaustion, or circumstance. Sometimes we convince ourselves that opportunities have passed us by or that we no longer have something meaningful to offer. Remind us that purpose, growth, wisdom, and new beginnings are not reserved for the young alone. You continue to work through people in every season of life. Help us to honour the wisdom of our elders and encourage one another to keep dreaming, learning, and living fully. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Yet you continue to place moments of lightness, humour, and delight within our days. Help us not to lose our sense of wonder or our ability to laugh, even when life is complicated. Loving God, as we pray for children and families today, we lift up all who carry doubts, worries, and unanswered questions. Parenting, caregiving, and family life can be exhausting and uncertain. Sometimes families laugh out of disbelief because the challenges feel too big or the future feels unclear. Remind us that you are patient with our questions and compassionate toward our fears. Strengthen families with encouragement, rest, support, and moments of joy together. And help all children to grow surrounded by love, safety, and hope. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Encourage us to dream boldly about what your church can be in the world today. May we be communities that welcome, support, and care for one another well.
