This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. (Deuteronomy 30:19)
God, today we pray for ourselves. We have friends and neighbours around us that are part of the LGBTQ2+ community that we may never understand because it wasn’t part of our norm in our day. Be with us as we learn some new terminology and definitions of gender and identity. Be with us if we fail to love and accept because of what we have been taught in our past. It’s okay to not understand. It’s okay to disagree. It’s not okay to hate or to exclude. Help us to hold these thoughts in our hearts for all people, near and far. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12)
Today we pray for Canada, O God, and ask you to bless the land and the people. Our country may not be perfect, but it offers us a lot of freedoms and liberties as well as taking care of us. Our leadership may not be perfect either, but we as citizens can call for changes. Our systems may need some overhauls, but for the most part, we are trying to help those in need. Here in Canada, may we honour the gifts we have, the road we have yet to travel, and the changes we can make as a wider community. God bless this country. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. (John 8:34)
God of nourishment, healthy and unhealthy, today is National Hot Dog Day and it inspires me to pray for all those picnics and gatherings we have as families, organizations, and communities. We pray for all who gather to share a meal together, that their travel is safe, the food is good, and much fun is had. Bless those moments with good weather. Help us to sit back and relax with family and friends whenever we can in this season of warmth and sunshine. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. (2 Peter 3:7)
Loving God, around the world there are injustices happening. We think of those who are persecuted while standing up for basic human rights. We think of those who are innocent and imprisoned. We pray for all people who are suffering because of systems that need change or corruption in leadership. Help us to find a better way of understanding and being together. Help us to discover how to hold systems and leaders accountable to encourage change. And God, help us to be courageous to research and work for justice for all people. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God. (3 John 1:11)
God, today is World Listening Day, and I ask you to challenge us. May we pause and listen to the sounds of the world around us. May we be intentional when being with others, to listen more and talk less. May we take something we absolutely love to hear and listen to it on a deeper level. God, may we also pause to hear you calling us, inspiring us, and to showing us our next adventure. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
On Saturdays we pray for children and families. On this National Karaoke Day, we pray for abundant songs and fun. We pray for folks to join together and sing something that’s new to them. God, may all that we do be done in and with your light and love, and may our call to be the church also reflect this in all ages. Be with parents and children of all ages and in all places. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. (Psalms 1:6)
Today we worship together online only but are together in our hearts. We continue to pray for our rest and restoration this summer so we can work diligently for the community in the months ahead. Be in our souls as we worship in our gardens, splash pads, trails, and homes. Hold us all so closely in your heart as we all have something going on. We pray for our friends who have a lot going on and who can’t see much hope in the near future. May we all know we are not alone. God, you are with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
