The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? (Psalms 118:6)
Powerful and mighty God, thank you for Superheroes in our lives. We thank you for those who protect us, who help us to stay healthy, and who continue to advocate and/or work with us to maintain meaningful lives. We give thanks to our police officers, firefighters, doctors and nurses, clinicians, therapists, community members who do everything they can when we’re in need, educators and mentors, parents and friends, and those who have ensured that the tools and staff needed to support us, exist. God, be with us when we need them and when we are them. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4)
Today we pray for our hopes, dreams, and wishes, O God. We pray for the things we’ve wanted to do but haven’t quite done. We pray for the hope that maybe we should have but it’s hard to find. God, may we take a dream or wish and wonder how to make it a reality. We give these all over to you, knowing that nothing is impossible with you. ALL things are possible. Even the silliest of dreams. Help us to be okay with being vulnerable enough to try. And if we hear a no, or are discouraged in trying, may we take that as a challenge to try even harder. With you, even the smallest dreams can become big changemakers. Be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. (Proverbs 19:21)
Loving God, Holy Parent, today is the Day of the Child and we celebrate all they are to us. We give thanks for their unpredictability at times, for the mess and chaos, and for the way they keep us on our toes. We pray that we help them not to grow up too quickly. We pray they are protected from evil and harm. We pray that they have good health and beautiful spirits. Where we can do more to encourage and foster the beauty of the inner child within them and us, help us to do so, God. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you. (Exodus 23:25)
Creative and Creating God, we give you thanks for stories in our lives. Many of us grew up with Mother Goose stories and share them with those who come after us. Thank you for the creativity you instill in us and encourage us to be storytellers through all our lives. May we see new things in the old stories. May we hear stories we’ve never heard before. Help us to relive a little childhood memory or time today in some way. God, thanks for those who shared Mother Goose stories with us in our youth and for encouraging others to transform them into little songs for children. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17-18)
Life-Giving God, we thank you for brothers and sisters today. We thank you for the gifts they bring to our lives and the challenges we learn and grow from. May they know they are loved. Where we struggle with a relationship, help us to pray for them today. May we pray for good things like their health, their soul, and their spirit. May we pray that their path is good and is one that is kind and compassionate to others. Where we love our siblings to the moon and back, may they feel us smother them with hugs and kisses from wherever we are. Thank you, God, for family. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord.” (Jeremiah 17:5)
Today we pray for children and youth, loving Creator. It’s Free Comic Book Day and may we all release the inner child within to reconnect with comics or something else we enjoyed in our youth. Help us to share what we enjoyed with the children around us. Maybe they’ll learn something new. Maybe they’ll make us feel old. But help us to remember that in sharing, we are connecting. In connecting, we are helping them to further their trust in us. May they know we are here when they need us. God, give them courage to ask for help and to share their authentic selves with us all our days. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “’Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.’” (Revelation 4:8)
On this “May the 4th Be With You” day, we pray that your spirit is around us today. May the force of your positivity, encouragement, hope, and desires be set within our hearts. As we gather for worship today, may neighbours who are curious but anxious to come to church, feel peace overwhelm them so they can try a church out. May we be welcoming and kind, compassionate and empathetic to all who enter our doors today. And God, is it okay if we laugh in worship today? Be with us wherever we are and in whatever we do. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
