365 Days of Prayer: April 21 to April 27, 2025

4/19/2025

April 21, 2025
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin.  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.” (Matthew 6:28-29)
On this Easter Monday, grant us time to rest and to take time to be with family and friends. May we think about resurrecting something within that brings joy or excitement within ourselves. Be it a hobby, joining a club or team or choir, or making time to read a book we loved the first few times. We ask you to be in us O God as we continue our earthly journey and we commit to looking for you in everyone and everything we encounter. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,” (Psalms 103:2-3)
Today we pray for the earth, O God. We give thanks for all the life that exists on this planet and pray that we find new and creative ways to take care of it. As we honour Earth Day today, may we take note of what we do, what we use, and how we exist within all that is around us. May we note the things that are unhealthy to us and the earth and have conversations with others on what we can do differently.  Grant us the will and perseverance to make change in our time. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)
Around the world, many are taking part in World Book Night. Help us to open a book and to take on the adventure that awaits us within its’ pages. May we consider opening our Bible and taking in a chapter that may help our souls. Maybe we’ll head to a library and see what’s new on the shelves. God, help us dive into reading to keep our imaginations alive and your creativity in our souls. Help us to learn, to enjoy, or to grow with whatever book we read. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

April 24, 2025
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2)
God of time, we give thanks for each day we are gifted in life. We give thanks for peace and diplomacy that surrounds us.  We are aware that it does not exist everywhere.  Challenge us to find different ways to live out peaceful ways of conflict resolution, and better decision-making ways. Challenge us to see how other places do peace and diplomacy too.  As we celebrate Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace Day, may we learn something new on how we are in our world, and how we can be better. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)
On the 25th of each month, we make time and space to pray for those who have died. As we just passed through the season of Easter, we pray for Jesus and his disciples. We pray for all who were personally impacted by Jesus’ ministry in his time. We pray for all our loved ones, and those we prayed for but never knew.  God, we pray they are fully restored, at your side, enjoying their spiritual selves while guiding and guarding us.  May we feel their presence around us, especially when we miss them most. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

April 26, 2025
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. (Acts 3:19)
God of intergenerational communities, be with folks of all ages in our midst. We focus on children, youth, and families today, understanding parenting continues to change. We understand that being a child or youth also looks differently in this world of technology and non-stop connections. Help us not to judge or jump to conclusions about their isolation but celebrate when they are online with friends and families. Help all of us to be safe, to be cautious of those we do not know, and not to be afraid to talk to a friend if a connection seems unsafe. Help us be better together. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

April 27, 2025
But I, with shouts of grateful praise, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. I will say, “Salvation comes from the Lord.” (Jonah 2:9)
O Holy One, as we gather as church today, may we feel your presence and love guiding us. We pray that Your Word inspires and encourages us to bring gentle surprises in the lives of those around us. Help us to be good stewards of your love, grace, and mercy. We pray for forgiveness where we are going wrong, and rely on the Spirit to bring us back onto the path you lay out for us. We understand that the best lessons are learned when things go wrong, so help us to be kind and graceful with ourselves in the learning. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
