365 Days of Prayer: March 9 - 15, 2026

March 9, 2026
He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.” “I have no husband,” she replied.  Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” (John 4:16-18)
Loving God, another Monday is upon us and we return to fasting if we take a break from doing so on Sundays. As we read through the verses above today, remind us that God knows our hearts and our truths. Help us to confess the things within us so God can hear us admit what is already known. By saying it aloud to God, our hearts and souls can be reconciled and move forward for forgiveness, healing, and growth. God, remind us that your love is greater than our faults and that you take those bits and make something great from them. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. (John 4:23)
Holy God, we give you thanks for the journeys of faith we are on. We may be on different paths or at different points, maybe even off the path a little, but here we are. Whether we are curious, devoted, passionate, or questioning (or all of these), know that we long to see and hear you in our lives. We are small blips in the universe and in time, and we pray we can be put to something meaningful that lingers long after our time has passed. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.” (John 4:26)
Grace-filled God, grant us the gift of knowing when you are present. May we see you in someone or something we encounter each day. May we hear your Spirit whisper within our hearts, nudging us along the way. May we feel your encouragement and love, especially when we are down on ourselves. I pray that no one feels alone and they sense Jesus walking with us. God of great compassion, thank you for your forgiveness, grace, and mercy and I pray that we can share the same with others in our own lives. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.  (John 9:2-3)
Creating God, thank you for highlighting these verses in the Bible today. We may have been taught that when something ‘is wrong’ or ‘different’ in us, that we or our ancestors have sinned and this is the punishment. I pray that you help us to refer to these words when something befalls us or someone we love. You create us and say “it is good,” regardless of what society thinks. May we recognize that everyone is fully human, even if they are different in body or mind. We are called to be community, and we are greater when we work together to meet all our needs with love. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.  (John 9:4)
Loving God, these words remind me that we are only here for a time. That timeline is unknown. These words are great to reflect on, not just today, but many times throughout the year and our lives. What will our generation be known for? How will we be seen? What questions might future students ask about us? What haven’t we done and why? What have we accomplished and why? I pray that we don’t take each day for granted and that we can be intentional about helping our communities shine. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. (John 9:6-7)
Loving God, today I wonder: What if we truly did everything you ask of us? What divine things could happen in our lives and our communities if we all did as you commanded? “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. And love your neighbour as yourself.” As we pray for families today, help us to remember that You call us to love ourselves, and all Your children. Help us to be good stewards of your light and love. Break open the walls of our hearts and minds so we can understand what you ask of us. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked,“Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg? (John 9:8)
Life-Changing God, may your glory be shared through the changes you help us make in our lives. I pray that your light is shared easily in all the good things that go on, but also through the trials and struggles in our lives. With the gift of free will, the world around us shapes and impacts us in body, mind, and spirit. I pray that, though you don’t intervene, your presence is felt through all our trials. Thank you for your love and grace. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8)
Loving God, help us to be mindful of your Spirit around us. May we wonder when the wind blows by, or when something brushes our skin. As we journey through Lent, give us strength to stand firm in our Lenten practices, knowing you are with us. And God, urge us to make time to sit in silence and to be fully present with you each day, however that looks for each of us. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  (John 3:16)
Loving God, thank you for loving our world. Thank you for not giving up on us and guiding us along the way. Thank you for Jesus being born and his stories available for all to learn from. Help us to dust off our Bibles and to read words that will touch our hearts and/or challenge us to do something. God, thank you for giving us the challenge of helping instigate change in our world today and for years to come.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  (John 3:17)
Loving God, we may come to prayer today wondering, “what does it mean to be saved?” We live into your grace, working into what your forgiveness looks like in our lives, and how to institute your eternal love and care for all. Is it okay, O God, to wonder what ‘being saved’ looks like for each of us? I pray that in the silent moments we take with you, we can discover what it is for our individual lives and our communities. Thank you O God. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”  (John 4:7)
Loving God, Jesus met many people in his short lifetime. He did not care who they were, but whose they were. He did not discriminate one community or another but called his disciples to go and share their light to all. As the landscape of our communities change, help us to remember that we can sit and be with all people. We can learn and grow from our experiences, our differences, and the things we’re most passionate about. May we remember that we are all your children. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”  (John 4:10)
Loving God, when we sit with the holy, help us to know you. When we thirst for something more, help us to see you. When we live divinely human lives, help us to remember that we carry your light, purpose, grace, forgiveness, mercy, and compassion with us. May we never take a moment for granted and may we share your love with everyone we encounter. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14)
Loving God, we pray for children and families today and pray that they long for deeper connection with you O God. If we are a place to do that in, may it be so. We know families are busy and there is a lot going on, even on Sunday mornings, but may they know we are here. They are welcome, even if it’s been a long time since we saw them. Give them the strength, resources, and energy to get through all they have going on in their lives. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.” (John 4:15)
Loving God, we gather for church this morning and I pray that you wake each of us with a sense of curiosity. Maybe we’ll wonder what the message will be. Maybe we’ll wonder who we will see in the pews. Whatever our wondering is today, I pray that we know our church is a sacred place of safety, comfort, and community. A place where we can laugh, cry, grow, and wonder together. Thank you, O God, for the gift of worshiping safely and comfortably together. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.” (Matthew 4:7)
Loving God, help us to see temptations for what they are. May we recognize the things we need and focus on what is healthy for ourselves and each other. May we work together to resist temptation and to lift each other up, especially through Lent. Give us hearts of generosity and may we be graceful with ourselves. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” (Matthew 4:10)
Loving God, temptation is all around us and I pray that you have rooted us in your strength and your will to keep us on track. For my Lenten practice of boundaries, it is challenging as I love all the people and catching up. I pray that through Lent, normalizing ‘respecting time’ for all of us becomes easy. As one who likes to ramble, may I be gracious when someone says the same to me. God, be with us as we learn and grow. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. (Matthew 4:11)
Loving God, as we live out our days, remind us that angels are all around us. For our friends who are mourning the loved ones who have passed, may they feel our support around them. When we need comfort, support, strength, or help, we pray that they are there in our time of need. Grant us permission to say out loud “that was hard” or “this is hard” so that when we get through it, we can also acknowledge that we did it. And when we do get through those moments or tasks, help us be good to ourselves and tend to our souls so we can be ready for what comes next. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

 Nicodemus came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.” (John 3:2)
Loving God, today we take time to reflect. What has happened in our lives or around us that we can name were clearly driven by or gifts of God? The birth of a baby, the colours in the sky, the changed life of someone who was near death, etc. Whatever it is, help us to remember that you are here but also within each and every one of us. May we be bearers of your light, love, and divine intervention. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God
unless they are born again.” (John 3:3)
Loving God, maybe we are challenged by the wording of being born again. Maybe we’re intrigued. Help us to know that each time we grow and learn, when we try something new or are uncomfortable with a change, there is a newness being born within us. You call us to be bearers of good news and that is an action, not just a word. Help us to share you in all that we do, in the struggles of growing and learning, and in being uncomfortable when trying something new. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water  and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. (John 3:5-6)
Loving God, your Spirit is set in our hearts at birth. As we pray for children and families today, help us to remember to tap into that Spirit. May we live with the liberating freedom that comes with following the Spirit and letting go of things beyond our control. As the living water of the earth is all around us, it is also within us. It sustains us and nurtures us, keeping us alive in the physical form. But your Spirit, O God, keeps us alive in our souls. I pray that we are infused with your passion and energy in all our days. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ (John 3:7)
Loving God, on the first of each month we think about Truth & Reconciliation and the history of our Indigenous brothers and sisters. God, this is a space where we have a lot of learning, understanding, and growth to do. We are only given what is currently known and yet, more information continues to come to the surface. My heart aches that anyone suffered harm at the hands of another, simply because they thought themselves as better. I pray we truly learn the histories and compassionately start living as one diversely rich community. And may all who need support, get it in very appropriate ways. God be with us. Loving God, on this Family Day, we pray that folks have permission to take time to be with their loved ones. We pray they can rest and play. Be in our hearts and spirits and wash any darkness or negativity from us. May we bask in the sunshine of your love. God, help us to be present, loving, and compassionate. And may we be open to trying something new. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

He said: “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, and you listened to my cry.” (Jonah 2:2)
Loving God, today is Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Tuesday/Fat Tuesday). It’s the day we can bask in the glory of anything good and savoury as we consider what we might fast from during Lent. I pray that we can think of fasting from something that takes us from you, O God. Maybe it’s something that distracts us, maybe it’s a feeling in our hearts that we know is not you, or maybe it’s something that we find we might be too attached, even addicted to. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. (Matthew 6:16-19)
Loving God, today we officially begin Lent. It is the season where we prepare our hearts and recall the stories of Jesus’ journey to the cross and his death. Remind us that we can break our fast on Sundays, but only Sundays. Help us to be intentional and find meaning in these next few weeks. Where we feel weary or overwhelmed in life, may we take time to breathe throughout the day. God, guide us and guard us as we walk the path with you. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. (Matthew 4:1)
Loving God, I pray that the things we are fasting from are challenging but not impossible. We think of temptation and all that surrounds us. Buy more. Do more. Be more. Compete. Climb. Be Better. Feel better. Let us put all these aside and be present to your calling. Today, help us to remember that we are enough. That we are perfectly imperfect. That we have what it takes to be the best selves that we are. And where we struggle, nudge us to get back on the path. Help us, O God, to fight mob mentality in everything we do, so we can listen and live into your call. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. (Matthew 4:2)
Loving God, today I wonder what I hunger for in my day, and in my life. I think about how many days I have left on earth and what my legacy will be. I know you are with me, that you don’t hesitate to push me into uncomfortable places, but I pray what we accomplish creates meaning and spreads hope. I pray that whatever people are hungering for, that they can name it and find it. Help us to listen deeply to each other and to hear your voices within them. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ (Matthew 4:3-4
Loving God, as we pray for families today, help us to learn what they are doing during Lent. May we engage them and share what we’re doing and keep checking in. I pray that through Lent, we can create greater bonds between our ages while we learn and grow together. God, where we have opted not to give something up during Lent, help us to remember when we have and the result of it. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendour. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. (Matthew 4:81-11)
Loving God, today is the first Sunday in Lent and we have permission to break our fast. If we do so, may we be intentional and mindful of what that looks like. Help us to reflect on the feelings that arise and maybe what these first few days have felt like. As we gather as your church, be present in our Annual General Meeting and in any decisions we make. Help us to share hope, to infuse hearts with encouragement and excitement, and to live out your will for us all our days. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. (Mark 12:30-31)
Loving God, reach into our hearts during Black History Month and encourage us to look into the past, to think of our hearts today, and how our hearts can continue growing and changing into the future. Today is Rosa Parks Day and though I wasn’t alive in that time, it breaks my heart to learn what was normalized and still lingers in our world. I pray that all people can be treated equally and with dignity. Help us to teach our young ones better. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34)
Loving God, today is National Flannel Day and so we pray for comfort. We pray for days where we can wear our coziest outfits and conquer the world or rest. We give thanks for the variety of things created with flannel and for the patterns and designs. God, I’m thankful for the warmth and the memories that arise when just talking about flannel. God, be with our flannel. May it never go out of style. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1 John 4:7)
Loving God, today is National Make a Friend Day and we pray for our world and all the connections we could make. Where we feel anxious about getting to know someone new, remind us that they are also feeling the same. Guide our hearts to friendships that are healthy and life-giving, and guard our hearts from those that are not. May we always choose to lift one another up, sharing laughter and memories along the way. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing one another in love. (Ephesians 4:2)
Loving God, today is Giving Hearts Day and we pray for all who give to various causes and organizations. I pray that whenever we give, we think of how it can positively impact our world. I pray that we are critical in making the decisions on who and what to give, and always have a mindset of our donations of time, talents, or treasures will make the world a better place. We know that every little bit counts no matter how we share. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. (Isaiah 54:10)
Loving God, today National Internet Friends Day. God, I pray that the generational gap that exists understands that online relationships matter just as much as our physical relationships. I pray that we can find authentic friendships online that are good for our souls. Guard us from fraud and scams, O God, and may we be open and honest with each other when something doesn’t quite feel right, so we can get some help. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return. (Genesis 3:19)
Loving God, on this Valentine’s Day we pray for everyone, and especially children and families. May the candy not be abundant but the gestures of love (time, hugs, playfulness) be overwhelming. Help us to set time aside to be present to share our love with one another. Remind us that we need to say that we love them, that we’re proud of them, that they hang the moon and the stars in the sky.

Loving God, today International Childhood Cancer Day and on this Family Day weekend, we pray for all families who have or have had children affected by Cancer. God, help us to know that you do not test us in this way, but that you walk alongside us in the trials of life. Bless those who are advancing cancer research, treatments, and cures, those who are caring for patients, and those who are concerned for their loved ones. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Loving God, as we hear of Groundhog Willie’s predictions today, we pray for sunshine, for warmer days, and snow that is great to build snowmen with. We pray that all who live with Seasonal Affective Disorder have the tools and support needed to get through to spring and may we offer opportunities to spread light and love their way. God, give us hope, warmth, and comfort. And thank you for giving us Groundhogs we can blame if winter gets to be way too long. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Loving God, today is Elmo’s birthday! Thank you for his giggles and teachings and the joy he shares with children. For all Sesame Street has done for our children (including us much older children), we give thanks. We pray their ministry of education continues for generations to come, teaching us all how to be better people today and tomorrow. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Loving God, today is Facebook’s birthday! 22 years of learning, scrolling, and connecting. What used to be a young person’s connection is now keeping older folks connected. We give thanks for all the positives Facebook brings to our lives and pray that the negatives fall to the wayside and our outweighed by the light in the world. God, keep us critical of what we read, mindful of when it’s too much for our souls, and when we need to reach out for help or support from a wider community. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
Loving God, today is Optimist Day and I pray the positivity is abundant wherever we go. May those of us who live in the ‘default to negative’ ways of thinking work hard to live into a ‘default to positivity.’ May we think the best of people when the world wants us to think the worst. May we find hope when things are hopeless. Help us, O God, to see the possibilities and the opportunities when faced with a challenge or an obstacle. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace. (Psalm 37:37)
Loving God, it’s National 80’s Day and I pray we can find all the fluorescent clothes we had and pull them out. May we surprise our loved ones with wild hair, songs from the past, and dances that have been out of style for quite some time. Grant us permission to have a little fun, be a little silly, and share stories of the 80’s with friends and loved ones. God, thank you that the 80’s are over though, and that they are never gone. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. (Titus 1:15)
Loving God, as we pray for children and families on Saturdays, today is Take Your Child to the Library Day. Our local libraries offer quite a lot of fun and opportunities for families to have adventures, read together, and do things they may not be able to do ordinarily through borrowing and using tools and so much more. Nudge our hearts to take time to go and explore what we can do as families as we support our libraries. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Loving God, Superbowl Sunday, we pray for a more united community even if we root for different teams. May the love of sport bring us together, putting aside the political climate, even if it’s only for a few hours. Remind us that we are bigger than the darkness, that our voices can and do make a difference, and that your world and will need our light and love everyday. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Loving God, our world really needs some direction and love. We pray that clarity and discernment. We pray that sensibility and compassion come to the forefront of what we do and who we are. We pray for healing for the earth, for communities and the world. Be in our leaders and all who make decisions on our behalf. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the Lord will do to all the enemies you are going to fight.” (Joshua 10:25)
Liberating God, we think of all who lived through experiences at Auschwitz and give thanks for this Liberation Day. We pray that the stories of our past are learned from and not relived. Creating God, today is LEGO Day and I pray we have permission to get those little pieces out and create something. Spark within us good childhood memories, creativity, and connection. We give thanks for the innovation that went and continues to go into LEGO and the many sets we can invest in. Thank you for such a simple tool to do so much learning with. God, may we find out how our lives fit within your world as we learn and grow.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God who frees us, grant us openness on this Freethinkers Day. Help us to find things to struggle with, so we can grow and learn each day. We pray that your Spirit finds home in our hearts, minds, and souls. We need you to rest deep within so we can be rooted in your light and love, being compassionate and critical in our world. Help us to never become complacent and to always seek justice. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God of recreation and balance, today is National Escape Day and we pray that we can escape the realities of the world for but a few moments for play. Be present in our Family Night tonight and pray that everyone is excited to participate in everything. We pray for those who may be tired, that they have the energy to make it out so we can infuse them with our extra energy to get through the night. Help us, O God, to be present with each other in good and meaningful ways. May the young people see us in your beautiful light. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

We pray for children and families on Saturdays.
Parenting God, today is about using art to inspire our hearts, and so we pray that the many forms of art are used to express ourselves today. May we use it when it’s hard to come up with words. May we share our love of art with each other, and to treasure crafts made for years to come. We pray that families can create art together, creating and sustaining a unique bond in a special way. But God, for our families who are no longer together, we pray that they feel connected and supported, no matter what. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

On the first day of the month, we pray for Truth & Reconciliation.
Rising God, today is National Get Up Day, where we encourage each other to rise and get things done. I wonder what we can do in our church and our community to continue the work of Truth & Reconciliation. For now, I pray you direct our hearts to do what we should be doing. I pray for an end to stereo-typing, racism, inequity, and inaccurate story-telling. I pray we are continuously curious to learn truths so we can live with a deeper sense of compassion and empathy for all. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Transforming God, today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day in the US and we think of all the changes that have been made within society throughout history. Continue to teach us, to open our eyes and our minds to the limitless world we could live into when all are treated the same. We have come a long way, but we still have a long way to go. Be in us, that we are your instruments for change. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Limitless God, today is International Day of Acceptance. It’s a day to reflect on what we accept and what we reject. We can think about this in objects, places, people, and more. I pray in the depths of our heart, that we have a general curiosity about those our human hearts want to reject. I pray that your love and hope opens us up to their stories so we can grow further into your divine acceptance of all. God, help us. Teach us. Guide us. God of Community, today is Bell Let’s Talk Day, where we’ll see lots of posts about mental health struggles, and stories of perseverance. Help us to be more open and honest with ourselves and those we trust, with all our health: mental, physical, and spiritual. May we find people to lean on when things are tough, and may we be a rock for someone who needs our strength. May we continue to learn and grow in our understanding of mental health illnesses as we become stronger together. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Living God, today is Celebration of Life Day where we honour our children and grandchildren who bring us joy. We give thanks for all our family, whether bonded by blood or kinship, and all they bring to our lives. We thank you for our church community who has become an extension of our families. We pray that everyone feels accepted, welcomed, and appreciated in who they are and what they bring to our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Mothering God, today is Maternal Health Awareness Day. We pray for all expecting moms and the care they receive. We pray for their bodies that are carrying little ones, for the health care that surrounds them, and for advocates that help them when questions arise. God, remind us that every body is different, every birth is different, and that times have changed. May we continue to learn and grow with expecting moms and may we be helpful to them in a variety of ways. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Parenting God, we pray for families on Saturdays. On this National Compliment Day, I pray that we take time to offer our little ones (no matter how old they are now), some words of kindness, encouragement, and love. I pray that we can do the same with our life partners, friends, and even our pets. In a world where negativity is the default, may we be the ones to flip the switch and put positivity in that place. For those who are feeling like they just keep getting torn down, may we have the strength and light to lift them up. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Youthful God, today is Youth Day and we pray that all our young people feel inspired and encouraged to learn who they are and find their spot in the world. May they try new things and uncover mysteries we may have been longing to find answers for. May they be permitted to be youthful, learning from mistakes, and growing in wisdom. Help us to be light for our young people today and everyday. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Creating God, today is “Make Your Dream Come True Day,” and I wonder what dreams are among us. I wonder about the mom who wants to be a rockstar, the dad who wants to be a Michelin chef, the teenager longing to publish a book, or the child who strives to win a race. Whatever our dreams are, may we hold them and share them with you. You are the God of the impossible. Regardless of age and ability, you can make things happen. God, some of us might need your help more than others to make our dreams come true. Be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Holy God, on this World Logic Day, let us have some fun sharing the knowledge we have gained over the years. May we enjoy a game of Trivia Pursuit or watch Jeopardy! with friends to challenge ourselves. Thank you for the gift of education, in whatever form it looks like for us. Thank you for teachers, books, and curious minds that keep us going. May we continue to learn about our faith and our history as well. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Comforting God, today is Hat Day and I pray that we have a space to wear a hat or some kind of accessory to mark the day. What a fun way to spark conversation or to cover up the hair that sometimes won’t do anything. God, thank you for fashion and comfort, for love and for warmth. May our hats be a source of heat in this wintry season. God be with us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Creating God, today we celebrate religious freedom near and far. Sometimes it’s easier said than done as we might not understand each other, our beliefs and practices, and what it all means when we come together. Challenge us to explore the faiths of those around us, and dive into the similarities and the slight differences we have. May we remember that freedom means more than just tolerance. It takes acceptance and love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Parenting God, we pray for families on Saturdays and today we’re thinking of all the children and youth who are inventors in our midst. May families encourage them to try new things and see what the world could really benefit from in good ways. May we work together to make those inventions a reality and to encourage creativity within all. God, remove limitations from our minds if we don’t believe they can do it. In Jesus’ name we pray. Ever-Present God, today is World Religion Day, and we gather for worship to celebrate Christian Unity. We understand that religion is not for everyone, but understanding there is something bigger than ourselves who roots for us and wants the best for us, can bring hope to many just as it brings hope to us. God, grant us open hearts and minds as we all work together for the common good of community. May we set aside the institution of religion and work with the Spirit in our hearts. Mysterious God, today is the day that wraps up the twelve days after Christmas. It’s the time for undecorating and finding one more piece after everything has been put away. God, help us to find a way to leave something of Christmas up to remind us of the joy and love the season brings. Nudge us with ways to continue living generously and in a spirit of abundance. God, your love through Jesus is amazing and we give thanks that he walks with us each day. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Creating God, today is Epiphany, where we celebrate the arrival of the Magi into Jesus’ birth story. It’s the day we recognize that everyone knew who Jesus was and how he can change all lives, not just a few. We pray that as we think about the star they followed to find him, that we too can tap into the light Jesus shines into the darkness. God, be with those who need a little light in their lives. May we look for them too and shine the light you put within us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Holy God, we pray for the world today and all who have made resolutions. We pray for their success, and also that they have permission to fall off track a little along the way. We do our best learning in making mistakes. Remind us that mistakes are but a moment and don’t need to last a lifetime. Push us and encourage us to stay the course. God be with us in our resolutions. Spirit-Gifting God, we celebrate Elvis Presley’s birthday today and give thanks that he shared his time and talents with the world. We give thanks that we can enjoy his music and stories for many years to come. God, may we learn from his life and his legacy, ensuring that celebrities can live somewhat normal lives. Protect them from harm and surround them with wise and good people. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Creating God, today is “Play God Day” where we are encouraged to go beyond ourselves and be and do for others. May we think of those who have less and wonder what it is we can do to help them in the long-term, not just the short-term. And may we think of how we might answer some prayers we may hear today. Parenting God, we pray for families on Saturdays and ask you to surround parents with sanity and wisdom. Infuse children with a safe curiosity and abundant kindness. For those who are being bullied at home, school, and/or work, may they have allies around them so they can continue being their authentic selves. Put in all of us kind hearts, O God, and patience… lots and lots of patience. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Ever-Present God, we’ll gather for worship today celebrating Jesus’ baptism. Remind us of the symbolic nature of water, but also of it’s necessary role in our lives. May we think about those who live without safe drinking water in their communities. Encourage us to do what we can to fuel change so that everyone has equal access to something we all need. And may we think of our own baptisms today, as we pray for those who are preparing to be baptized in the year ahead. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
